Easter 2013

We have been so lucky to have Antonio's mother and sister visit us during Easter most years.  It has become such a tradition to our kids that I don't think they would think it was Easter unless the Berthas were here with us!

During the party inside after egg hunting (what is funny is that the eggs were literally just littering the bare ground, but for these 4 year olds, it was still like they were "hunting!")  Of course, this makes sense if you have every asked your 4 year old to go get his shoes and he responds, "but I looked everywhere and I can't find them" only to discover they are two feet away from him in the middle of the floor!

The kids could choose whichever center they wanted to visit during the party, and Roman made a bee-line for the book center.  Roman LOVES books.

So we are coming up in the world - I think we really out-did ourselves this year with the egg coloring!

Attack of the boys!

Visit from our "Mexican Cousins"

Our kids like to say that they have "American cousins" and "Mexican cousins." We were lucky to have our Mexican cousins come visit for a week right before school started. We got a picture of all of us together before they drove to the airport to fly back home.



 It was a bit painful to get everyone to cooperate, but I think we got a decent picture at the end of it. I have to tip my hat to our neighbor Sydney for doing such a great job dealing with all of us to get a picture!



 We drove up to Helen, Georgia to go tubing. Unfortunately this is one of those times that I didn't really get that many pictures.

Enrique celebrated his 13th birthday while they were here. I was excited to use the new chalkboard banner I made as part of the party decorations.

I included so many pictures of me with the boys as a kind of "flip book" of sorts to see these crazy boys in action!

We actually got some shots of Antonio and I together since we had someone to take the picture for us (someone older than 7, that is!)

These are seriously the best pictures we could get of our family:  one where Roman has a water gun in his mouth and one where he is looking at who knows what!!!  This exercise served me well, however.  It only reaffirmed my decision to not go to a photo studio anytime soon with all three kids!!!

Closing the Gap

Historically, it seems like I post every six months or so, catching up on the half-year that has elapsed.  However, I have been getting better, and you'll notice that  my last group of posts were in April - only 4 months ago!!  At this rate, in a couple of years I figure I'll be posting the same month as things are happening!

To catch up, I'll start from today and working backwards....


First Day of School!!!!!!!

Quinton is going into second grade.  His teacher is Mrs. Hernandez.  We met her on Monday at Open House, and she seems very nice.  Word has it that she is also very funny. Quinton is a BIG talker (gets that from me), but usually he is a little shy on initial meetings.  Not so this last Monday.  From the moment we stepped foot into the school until we were back in the car that boy did not stop talking.

"Mom, I can show you how to get anywhere in the school.  I know where everything is!"

"Mom, let's go to Roman's class first..."

"Why does Kindergarten get a microwave, that's not fair!!..."

"Minecraft minecraft minecraft minecraft...." (ad infinitem)

Roman started Kindergarten today.  He is in Mrs. Reinhart's class.  It is a special class for severely delayed students, so there are only 8 children in the class with 2 teachers.  Antonio and I are very optimistic that this will be a good fit for him and give him the help he needs.  He was picked up by the special needs bus at our driveway, so I wasn't able to see Quinton off (that is why the picture of Quinton getting on the bus is so far away - I wasn't able to get to the bus stop in time to get a closer picture)

Roman is very excited about school - I can only hope that he does as well in Kindergarten as he did in Preschool.

Domenic doesn't start preschool until after Labor Day - so until then we get lots of special one-on-one time.
